This course can be conducted in one of two ways at the discretion of the client:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

After completing your online theory, our experienced team will guide you through a brief 1.5-hour practical session—then you're certified!
Choose what works best for you: we can come to your workplace, or you can attend a practical session at one of our convenient training venues.
To equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical application to competently administer emergency first aid, as well as the treatment of other illnesses and injuries in a education and care setting in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
Emergency First Aid Response for Education and Care Setting has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on administering First Aid in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and the Health Training Package. Alternative assessments can be made (eg. Oral).
Our self-paced online assessment allows you to complete the theory component of your first aid training at a time that suits you. Work through the interactive modules on any device, review the material as often as you need, and progress at your own pace. Once finished, you’ll simply attend the practical session to demonstrate your skills and receive your nationally accredited certificate.
The HLTAID012 certificate is valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component must be renewed every 12 months, in line with industry standards and Safe Work Australia guidelines. Refresher training is available through Accelerate First Aid to help you stay compliant.

4–6 hours of self-paced online theory
A 1.5-hour face-to-face practical assessment

Yes. Many childcare centres and early learning institutions cover the cost of this course as it is often a mandatory employment requirement. It may also be tax-deductible—check with your employer or tax professional for details.
HLTAID012 is tailored specifically for early childhood and education settings. It includes:
Infant and child-specific emergency care
Asthma and anaphylaxis response
Choking, seizures, and head injuries in children
Legal responsibilities in childcare environments
This course meets the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
To enrol, you must be at least 14 years old and have access to the internet for the online component. Physically, you’ll need to:
Perform CPR on adult and infant manikins (floor-based)
Demonstrate safe lifting techniques
Participate in simulated childcare emergency scenarios

Yes. HLTAID012 meets all first aid training requirements under the Education and Care Services National Regulations. It is nationally recognised and accepted by childcare centres and education providers across Australia.
Upon successful completion, you'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting. This includes certification for:
CPR (HLTAID009)
Asthma management
Anaphylaxis response

This ensures your training directly applies to situations you may face in a childcare role.
Yes. Even if you’ve completed HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid), you’ll still need HLTAID012 to work in childcare settings. This course includes additional childcare-specific content not covered in standard first aid training.
