First Aid Alive Refunds, Cancellations and Transfers Policy

Purpose

This policy outlines the refund, cancellation, and transfer arrangements for students enrolling in training courses with First Aid Alive. The policy is designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with Australian Consumer Law.

Course Cancellations by the Student

More than 48 hours before course commencement

Students who cancel their booking more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled course commencement may:

  • receive a full refund, or
  • transfer to another available course date at no additional cost.

Less than 48 hours before course commencement

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled course may:

  • incur an administration fee of up to 50% of the course fee, or
  • be offered a transfer to another course date at the discretion of management.

Non-attendance (“No Show”)

Students who fail to attend a scheduled course and do not rebook within 2 weeks without prior notice will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.

Course Transfers

Students may request to transfer to another course date by contacting First Aid Alive prior to the course commencement. Transfer requests are subject to availability.

Only one transfer may be permitted per booking unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Refunds Due to Exceptional Circumstances

Refunds or transfers may be considered in cases of:

  • medical emergencies,
  • serious illness,
  • family emergencies, or
  • other compassionate grounds.

Supporting documentation may be requested.

Course Cancellations by First Aid Alive

If First Aid Alive cancels or reschedules a course due to insufficient numbers, trainer illness, venue issues, or other unforeseen circumstances, students will be offered:

  • a full refund, or
  • transfer to another available course date.

First Aid Alive is not responsible for additional costs incurred by students, including travel or accommodation expenses.

Online Learning Components

Where online learning has been accessed or completed and the practical has not been completed, only a partial refund may apply as administration and licensing fees may already have been incurred.

Online Learning Completion Requirements

Students enrolled in courses that include the online learning component are required to complete all online training and assessment activities within two (2) weeks of enrolment unless otherwise advised by First Aid Alive.

Students who fail to complete the online learning component within the required timeframe will not be entitled to a refund. This is due to administrative, licensing, and resource costs incurred upon enrolment and activation of the online learning materials.

Refunds or extensions may only be considered in exceptional circumstances, including serious illness, medical emergencies, or compassionate grounds. Supporting documentation may be required to assess these requests.

Assessment Outcomes

Refunds will not be provided where a student:

  • is deemed Not Yet Competent,
  • fails to complete assessment requirements (both online and in person practical),
  • does not provide valid identification or prerequisite evidence, or
  • is removed from training due to inappropriate behaviour or misconduct.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy removes or replaces any rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
